2019 O’Shea D1A Brazilian

This fine instrument has a Red Spruce top and beautiful Brazilian Rosewood back and sides.  It has a great, well-balanced tone, strong volume, and is very responsive and lightweight.  It has a stunning Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and bridge, cut from the same piece of wood, and has gorgeous Waverly tuners.  The Brazilian Rosewood in this guitar was acquired from a luthier shop in San Diego, where it had been stored since the early ‘60s.  It has a dovetail neck joint with a one-piece Honduran Mahogany neck.  Overall, this is a beautiful sounding instrument that plays like a dream.

1971 Martin D35 – sold

This D35 has spent most of its life in Mexico.  And by the looks of it when I acquired it, it spent a lot of nights in Margaritaville.  (If only it could talk!)  A lot of shop hours went into this guitar bringing it back to its glory, including, but not limited to, replacing the neck beam with an adjustable truss rod, neck reset, new frets, custom bridge, pick guard, bone bridge pins and saddle.  This is a well-played instrument that I have structurally inspected, repaired, and brought back to life.  There is some lacquer checking in the top as well as a few minor scratches and a repaired crack on the lower side.  This guitar is structurally sound — pardon the pun‑‑ has a beautiful vintage tone, and is ready to be played and loved again.

1965 Harmony Sovereign with X brace conversion – $900

This is a beautiful sounding Harmony that has had an X-brace conversion, new neck reset, fret dressing, and custom bridge.  The sound is woody and well balanced, with warm base.  Back and top have been braced with Red Spruce.  There have been some lacquer repairs due to peeling, but I have left the normal patina and wear marks alone as they give this beautiful well-loved instrument its own unique character.  Action is low and serves as a great picker or finger-style guitar.  This guitar also has new Grover, open-back, butterbean tuners.  You will fall in love with this guitar as it is a joy to play and is as comfortable as an old pair of boots.

  • Bracing: X scalloped Red Spruce
